Next door to the regular screened Cinema City multiplex, IMAX Praha boasts the largest IMAX screen in the world - 20x25 metres. For the uninitiated, IMAX is the cutting edge of cinema technology, using film much larger than conventional movie cameras, much more image data is captured, from a left and right lens. You wear special glasses that composite the image and make it look 3 dimensional. Whilst most IMAX films are really just a demonstration of the technology, the experience is breath-taking. You've got to try it at least once, plus it'll only cost you the same as a normal cinema ticket: 159Kc (US$8.12, GBP5.14, 6.34EUR). Family tickets are a very reasonable 444Kc (US$22.69, GBP14.34, 17.72EUR) for 2 adults and 2 children.
The downside - most of the IMAX 3D features are shown with Czech audio (and no subtitles). IMAX versions of grown-up blockbuster movies however are usually shown in English with Czech subtitles.
